Planning for Plastic Free July 2020

Plastic Free July is a global movement made up of millions of people, like you, to encourage the reduction of single-use plastics. The challenge is to eliminate the use of at least one type of single-use plastic for the month of July. Ditching plastic for eco-friendly alternatives is actually easier than it sounds, and this will hopefully have a lasting impact but for now let's just start with a month!

Plastic Free July starts in less than 10 days and I think it's important to try and come up with a game plan to help stick to your goal. Firstly, where do you plan on making the change, is it at home? At work? School? Or just when you’re out and about?

For most of us right now though, these are all the same place, so that makes it even easier. Because I spend so much time at home at the moment, i'm going to challenge myself to stop using any plastic in one section of my house. So this Plastic Free July I'm going to aim to cut out all plastic from my bathroom!

Next, think about what type of plastic you use that can be cut out and replaced with a plastic free alternative. It could be using beeswax wraps instead of cling film at home, a reusable water bottle instead of single-use bottles at work, a metal straw at school or a reusable coffee cup to take with you so you don’t have to rely on disposable cups.

I've curated a list of products below that will help you make simple changes and stick to your goal. There are loads more products on our site you can try to reduce the plastic you use, why not try our Best Sellers to get started.

The most important thing to take out of this is to give it a go! Even if you’re just talking about Plastic Free July with your friends and family, spreading awareness is really important too.
