Keeping your home (office) stress free
For many of us right now our home has also become our office, so keeping it functional for both purposes is vital to keeping it as stress free as it can be. I find clean and decluttered living and working areas help reduce my stress, and lets me concentrate on the things I should be focusing on, whether that's preparing dinner, relaxing after a busy day or checking off my to do list for work.
I’ve put together a list of some handy products that will help keep your multi-purpose spaces clean without compromising your eco-friendly ideals.
Coconut Brushes & Scourers
These days, so many households are open plan and the thought of dirty dishes in in your office can be incredibly distracting. These highly durable brushes and scourers from EcoCoconut are tough on grease and perfect to get into hard to reach places like the bottom of wine glasses and water bottles. The bristles are made from 100% farmed coconut fibres and are naturally anti-bacterial, free from toxic chemicals and biodegradable, making them a totally eco-friendly way to clean keep your kitchen clean.
Compostable Sponge Cleaning Cloths
Keep all your home and office surfaces clean with these compostable sponge cleaning cloths from ecoLiving. Many generic sponges contain oil based micro plastics that end up in oceans and landfill. These sponges however, are compostable, biodegradable, plastic free and washing-machine friendly, so you can reuse them over and over again!
It’s a sad thought to consider all the nasties that live inside your everyday washing detergent that end up down the drain everyday. Not only are most washing up liquids made with crude oil, but they also come in single use plastic bottles! Eliminate both of these hazards with ecoLiving’s washing-up soap bar that is 100% natural, non-toxic and free from any plastic packaging. You only need a small amount each time, so you should see your soap bar last longer than you think.
Food storage like these beeswax wraps from BeeBee Wraps may not directly declutter your multi-purpose space but they are great for organisation and helping limit food waste. Ditch the plastic cling film and instead opt for beeswax wraps that are perfect to store fruit, nuts, cheese, sandwiches, left overs and whatever you can think of! They can be easily washed with warm soapy water and should last about a year before you need to replace.
I have been getting into a routine of prepping my house for office use at the start of every day. Whenever I used to put off the household chores, the thought of them would always be in the back of my mind and it would impact my work. I'd suggest setting a time you'd like to be sat down to start work and keeping to it each day. You can then use the time you'd normally take to commute to get your office prepped and hopefully this will allow you to concentrate on what you need to be doing - good luck!
